2-Axis Retrofit Question

I have use the CSMIO/IPS on a machine I currently use that includes the Encoder Module and the MPG Module. I have acquired a 2 axis machine that is toast. I plan to replace the DC servos with AC units with Step and Direction control. The issue is the Z axis is manual control and I would like to interface the linear encoder to read the spindle position on the screen. What would be needed to accomplish this? Would I also need the encoder module or could it directly connect to the CSMIO Inputs? Could the 4 axis version support this with the mpg?  Thanks

It is possible but requires writing a macropump that cyclically reads the encoder position from the CSMIO-NEC module.
How to read the encoder position you can find here: https://www.cs-lab.eu/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/csmio-enc-artykul.jpg

Remember that the CSMIO-ENC module starts counting positions from the index signal. The index signal starts counting positions.

>>> Would I also need the encoder module or could it directly connect to the CSMIO Inputs?

It is only possible in the case of CSMIO/IP-S and CSMIO/IP-A controllers and the CSMIO-ENC module.

>>> Could the 4 axis version support this with the mpg?

No. CSMIO/IP-M does not work with the CSMIO-ENC module, and the CSMIO-MPG module is only for manual operation.
