Update to simcnc 3.503
Quote from Chris Mannion on 9 April 2025, 18:28Hello,
is there an update, I seem to have been waiting a long time with promises of great things for the new version but here we are a year later and its still the same. If I'm not mistaken the only option to your software is artsofts. If you have stopped developement of the software then please tell me so I can decide what to do going forwards.
I am a beta subscriber but again nothing there
thanks chris

Sorry

The basic idea of CS-Lab with simCNC is really great. You can add and customize your own user interface and functions using Python scripts.
At first, it really annoyed me because I had no idea about it, but now with AI, it's child's play. What kind of innovations were you hoping for, or what are you currently missing in the software? Maybe we can help each other here.I really hope that an update will be released in the near future that fixes the problem where the workpiece coordinate system remains rotated when the machine coordinate system is selected. Hope dies lasts.

Could you explain to me in a few lines how you use AI to help you code? I'm not proficient in Python, and it's very difficult for me to make progress on my computer without a few macros... Thanks

It's best to start by using an existing script and then expanding or modifying it with the help of the AI. You might also want to watch a few Python basics videos on YouTube beforehand. You have to describe what you want to the AI as precisely as possible. Then it will spit out a code sample, and you can try it out. However, you should understand what the code does... I use Perplexity as my AI and have had very good experiences with it. You can also upload your own code or documents like the Python script editor for SimCNC. It was a long, tiring, and sometimes frustrating process.
