Hardware/software failure?
Hi guys machining away today finished the 32 run of the same part.
Went to touch set a new drill and it sent the spindle through the touch setter( has been used 1000s of times no issue.
Hit stop(estop reset) on mach 3 when suddenly i got expansion module time out module 4 then reset and got module 32 then 16.
After a hard reset i get the message pop up again instantly and it disconnects from the controller.
Has the csmio died or is there a known fix for this issue.

You have a problem with interference on the CAN bus.
The machine stops if the additional module does not respond too many times.
You can turn it off, but you must consider that the communication problem will remain.
You need to check whether the CAN bus cable has not been physically damaged (short circuit, leakage).
You also need to check whether a 120-ohm resistor is installed at the end of the CAN bus (serial topology).
It comes in the form of a blind DB9 plug (plug without cable; inside there is a 120 Ohm resistor connected to CAN H and CAN L)
The tool changer is operated in the same way as in Mach3 via macros.
You must be aware that you have a hardware problem and switching to simCNC will not solve the CAN bus problem.

Cable damage or increased environmental interference?
Check whether you have a problem with the 24V power supply supplying additional modules.
Its damage or temporary power outages could also lead to the alarm.
